A Glimpse: Father's Day Pies

On Saturday, the ladies in my family made 26 pies. 26. We were organizing a Father's Day Pie Giveaway for Sunday morning. Several ladies from church signed up to bring pies. We counted the dads, totaled the promised pies, and then baked up the difference. This year, the difference was about 26.

We made four apple...

 ...four chocolate...

...two key lime...

...two pecan...

...four coconut cream...

...four blueberry...

...three banana cream...

...and three lemon.

All told, we had 10 fruit or nut pies.

And 16 cream or citrus pies. It was really fun making room in the refrigerator for all of these.

It was fun, and we were finished by 9 p.m. Believe it or not, we made more last year.

We did have one unforeseen problem though. Several ladies brought pies to church that they weren't signed up to bring. All told, we probably had about 20 extra pies. 20. But I don't think anybody minded.

Judging by the smiles, the pie giveaway was quite a hit. I know my dad enjoyed his blueberry pie, and chocolate pie, and coconut pie, and banana cream pie, and lemon pie...(note to self: next year, factor in for ladies bringing extra pies.)
